Playin’TV Named Best Game Service in Interactive TelevisionParis, October 8, 2009 – Visiware, leading worldwide publisher of games for pay television, was proud to accept the “Special Award for Best Game Service in Interactive Television” for Playin’TV, its all-audiences game channel. Awarded at the AFDESI International iTV Awards ceremony in Cannes, France held during MIPCOM, this is the 4th time Visiware has been recognized for its role in the interactive television industry. After being named “Best Developer” and “Best Game and Entertainment Service” in 2003, then “Best Technology Provider” in 2005, the latest version of Visiware’s Playin’TV channel earned the company the “Special Award for Best Game Service in iTV” this year. The new Playin’TV portal offers clear technological and end-user advantages: more games, easier browsing and a simplified interface, graphic animation, reduced bandwidth, optimized loading times, and so on. New features will be added as future developments are made, including: direct access to leaderboards from the TV screen, scores sent via the set-top box, voting mechanism (favorite games), grades and comments on games, and more payment methods for set-top boxes (Pay-Per-Play, Pay-Per-Day, Pay-Per-Session, etc.). This new generation of portals has already been released in New Zealand on Sky TV, in the USA on DISH Network, and in France on Numericable. It will soon be released in Canada on Bell TV and in India on Dish TV. This award is a reflection of the strength Visiware has built after more than 10 years in the interactive television business, and confirms its position as a key player in this market yet again. Many cable, satellite, and IPTV operators have chosen to do business with Visiware, which means the publisher is also present on Canalsat in France, on Videotron in Canada, on Sky Italia in Italy, on Nova in Greece, on UPC in the Netherlands and Eastern Europe, on Austar and Foxtel in Australia, on Multichoice in South Africa, on StarHub in Singapore, on T-Online in Germany, and on True Vision in Thailand. Furthermore, due to its expertise and ability to innovate, Visiware’s games are now available on new platforms such as cell phones, the Internet, portable multimedia players (Archos, iPod Touch, iPhone etc.), Internet-connected televisions (Philips), and consumer electronic devices (Cezzer). Visiware is also developing new applications for television (TV widgets). The company will launch new licensed games through new partnerships, and is preparing to deploy on the IPTV market. |
